Online Topic Lecture of Dr. Michael Frey (KIT-FAST)

On May 5, 2025, Dr. Michael Frey from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT-FAST) delivered an insightful online lecture at our graduate school on the topic of "Testing Automated Driving Functions – The Mystery of "Test Approval" "

First, Dr. Frey presented the relevant legal regulations that must be taken into account if you want to obtain a test license for automated driving as a research facility were presented. After the presentation, the necessary steps in the process of applying for a test permit and the resulting challenges of applying for such a permit were discussed in detail. Finally, we looked at research projects that have already successfully received a test license.

During the lecture, an engaging discussion took place, leveraging the multidisciplinary expertise of the participants. The exchange of ideas enriched the conversation and provided valuable information for some of the participants for the challenges they face in the application for a test license.
