On June 30th, 2025, the graduate school "UpGrade Mobility" hosted an engaging fireside talk featuring Jörg Genz, former federal chairman of Wirtschaftsjunioren Deutschland The event provided a unique opportunity for members of the graduate school to interact with the distinguished guest in a relaxed and informal setting.
Moderated by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Eric Sax , the scientific speaker of the graduate school, the discussion began with Genz' career and delved into his experiences as managing director of two companies and the Wirtschaftsjunioren Deutschland. The conversation ranged from questions about funding start-ups to challenges faced by a managing director of small companies.
The key takeaway from the fireside talk was that the governmental support for starting your own business is bigger than most people think. The Participants were encouraged to use their expert knowledge to start their own businesses and take the plunge into self-employment. Also In addition, the importance of a good and intact network was emphasized, and tips were given on how to build and maintain one.
