Fireside Talk with Martin Daum
Insights into Leadership, Corporate Strategy, and the Future of Mobility
On October 26, we had the pleasure of welcoming Martin Daum, former Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler Truck AG. The evening was moderated by Eric Sax. Martin Daum gave candid and personal insights into his career spanning several decades in the automotive and commercial vehicle industry. He spoke about the decisions and turning points that shaped his path. One focus of the evening was the split of the Daimler Group. As one of the key architects of the separation of Daimler Truck and Mercedes-Benz, he talked about the strategic considerations and challenges behind this step, and what it means to take responsibility for such a decision. Building on this, the conversation turned to leadership in a global corporation, especially in times of change, and to the question of which skills the next generation of engineers will need in order to actively shape the mobility of tomorrow. Particularly valuable was the direct exchange: the questions from the audience and the conversations afterwards brought the evening to life. We warmly thank Martin Daum for his time and openness, and everyone who joined us.
